Health and Safety Manager

Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Location: Peterborough Salary: £56,000 + Fuel Card This Health and Safety Manager role is a brilliant opportunity for a confident safety professional who enjoys being visible on site, building strong working relationships and taking ownership of safety standards across multiple projects. You will join an established business delivering commercial installations, refurbishments, maintenance, industrial installations and planned preventative maintenance. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead health and safety activity across the business, manage a Health and Safety Officer and work closely with site managers, supervisors, clients and subcontractors. The role combines practical site support with responsibility for procedures, compliance, training and continuous improvement, with regular travel to sites across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. As Health and Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include: Leading health and safety across the business, developing procedures and safe systems of work. Preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements, ensuring suitable controls are in place. Conducting site inspections, audits and safety walks across commercial and industrial projects. Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions and encouraging proactive reporting. Ensuring subcontractors are appropriately vetted, inducted and working in line with site safety requirements. Advising management and project teams on UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations. Delivering in-house training, leading the health and safety committee and managing accreditation renewals. Reporting on safety performance, audit findings and key risks directly to the Managing Director. As a Health and Safety Manager, you will need: A minimum of five years’ health and safety experience within construction or fit-out environments. A NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or equivalent. Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK health and safety legislation. Proven experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations. Experience working with main contractors and managing subcontractor safety. Confident communication skills, with the ability to influence, educate and support people at all levels. Strong organisation, attention to detail and report-writing skills. A full, clean UK driving licence and the ability to work independently across multiple sites. You will need to be proactive, approachable and confident, with a practical approach to solving problems and maintaining safe working environments.
