As a Skilled Metal Finisher (Polisher/Fettler), you’ll play a key role within a small, expert polishing team, working on a wide variety of stainless-steel finishes and contributing directly to the build of large-scale, precision-engineered equipment. This is a hands-on role offering variety, stability, and the chance to see your craftsmanship come to life in high-end industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities of a Skilled Metal Finisher (Polisher / Fettler):
- Carry out polishing and fettling of stainless-steel components, including Satin, Mirror, Shot Blast and Scotch-bright finishes.
- Work within a small, specialist polishing department producing high-quality food-processing machinery.
- Operate in both the polishing shop and on the main shop floor to accommodate large machinery builds.
- Follow safe working practices while working in a confined but extraction-equipped environment.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites to support equipment installation.
- Work a 39-hour week with opportunities for regular overtime paid at 1.5 × hourly rate.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment alongside experienced polishing engineers.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in metal polishing and fettling, specifically with stainless steel.
- Strong understanding of a range of finishes (Satin, Mirror, Shot Blast, Scotch-bright).
- Ability to work on large fabricated components with precision and consistency.
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
- Good teamwork, attention to detail, and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Flexibility to support occasional site-based installation work.
