Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Telford – £45,000 – £50,000 PA
Do you have a passion for electrical design work and are looking for your next step up into a Senior Electrical Design Engineer?
Leading a small internal electrical design team you will be hands on with AutoCAD LT, create designs as part of a team and also contributing on an individual level to contribute to ongoing machinery projects which are bespoke based off each client\’s needs.
Senior Electrical Design Engineer\’s Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and upkeep of detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and 3D panel layouts in AutoCAD LT
- Specify and validate components (PLCs, safety relays, drives, motors, power supplies) to meet current‑ and voltage‑load demands, driving cost, quality and standardisation
- Own BOM accuracy: enter and maintain parts and assemblies in Sage MRP, supporting on‑time purchasing and build
- Provide support to production and field‑service teams—diagnosing build or on‑site faults, implementing fixes and offering design based changes to mitigate issues
- Champion design governance: manage documentation, drive continuous‑improvement projects and mentor junior engineers in best practice
Skills & Experience Required as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer:
- Previous experience working within electrical design as part of an engineering team ideally from a manufacturing/machinery environment
- Experience of using AutoCAD LT (or similar design engineering CAD packages)
- Must have strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients to take a design brief through to final assembly
- Driving License (ideally) or local to the area
