The Medical Assistant will assist physicians and providers by preparing procedure trays, ensuring supplies are stocked, and supporting patient care. This position requires regular travel between Westminster, Mt Airy, and Eldersburg. Availability to work Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5 pm, approximately 35-40 hours per week is necessary.

Pay range: $16-23/hr, based on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, confirming their first & last name and DOB.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently.
  • Set up procedure trays, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
  • Prepare pathology/lab specimens and route them appropriately based on patient insurance.
  • Address patient questions both in-office and via phone as instructed.
  • Check to-dos and nurse line communications.
  • Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and inventory all equipment and instruments, maintaining records of maintenance.
  • Maintain medication supplies, discard expired items, and keep accurate records.
  • Ensure infection control standards are met, and supply rooms and cabinets are well-stocked.
  • Order, sort, restock, and inventory supplies.
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients and review wound care when applicable.
  • Administer anesthesia and injections for procedures.
  • Ensure timely response to phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to triage patient problems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control, and Blood Borne Pathogen standards.
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
  • Experience administering injections.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Understanding of office financial policies.
  • Basic computer skills and EMR experience.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Cooperative and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Willingness to travel to satellite offices as needed.
  • Strong multi-tasking, prioritisation, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Good organisational skills for spelling, sorting, and filing materials.
Licensure/Certifications/Education:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, CNA program, or a bachelor's in pre-med or pre-physician assistant preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent clinical patient care experience preferred.
  • Previous dermatology experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Moderate talking, bending, reaching, and balancing.
  • Use of hands and fingers.
  • Talking and listening in person and on the phone.
  • Handling materials like paper and supplies.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Exposure to infectious organisms and chemicals.
