My client is looking for a strong C++ Software Engineer to help productionise the robotics software powering its autonomous driving technology. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on taking complex robotics and research code and turning it into robust, maintainable, production-grade libraries suitable for automotive deployment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Productionising and refactoring C++ robotics libraries
  • Working across localisation, odometry, calibration, state estimation and sensor fusion
  • Improving APIs, architecture, testing, dependency management and maintainability
  • Supporting localisation and odometry work for automotive programmes
  • Assessing existing research/prototype code and determining how it should be adapted or redesigned
  • Working towards automotive-grade production and compliance requirements
  • Collaborating with robotics, vehicle software and engineering teams
  • Making practical decisions around third-party and internal libraries
  • Documenting solutions and transferring knowledge to the permanent team

What They're Looking For

  • Strong commercial C++ software engineering experience
  • Experience building or productionising software libraries
  • Background in robotics, automotive, autonomy, drones, aerospace, mapping or another complex technical environment
  • Experience with at least one of:
    • Odometry
    • Calibration
    • Sensor fusion
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs and modular design
  • Experience writing robust tests for complex C++ systems
  • Comfortable taking research/prototype code and turning it into production-quality software
  • Able to work independently and quickly get up to speed in complex codebases

Nice to Have

  • Automotive-grade software experience
  • MISRA / ISO 26262 / ASIL
  • Numerical optimisation or solver libraries
  • Experience with safety-critical systems
  • Experience working with third-party library replacement, wrapping or redesign
  • Experience building software for physical systems such as vehicles, robots, drones or spacecraft
