The Senior Project Manager plays a key cross‑functional role within the Volkswagen Group DTO (Data, Tech & Operations) programme, supporting delivery across multiple workstreams including Enablement, Reporting, Governance, Platform and Market Operations. In addition to traditional project management responsibilities, this role incorporates core Business Analyst (BA) capabilities—ensuring requirements are clearly understood, processes are mapped effectively, and solutions are aligned to business needs across a complex, multi‑market ecosystem.
This role ensures smooth planning, coordination and execution of programme activities by providing structure, oversight, high‑quality requirement definition and proactive issue management. Reporting to the PMO Lead, the Senior Project Manager drives operational excellence, maintains delivery discipline, reduces friction between workstreams, and brings clarity to evolving or ambiguous requirements. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role suited to someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments, excels at multi‑tasking, and can create order, structure and alignment across technical and non‑technical teams.
Role Summary
The Senior Project Manager orchestrates cross‑functional delivery, manages governance cadences, supports stakeholder alignment, ensures readiness for key milestones, and drives continuous improvements in project execution. The role spans multiple domains — Enablement, Reporting, Governance, and Platform — depending on programme priorities. Importantly, this role also performs Business Analysis functions, including gathering and clarifying requirements, analysing business needs, mapping processes, supporting solution design discussions, and contributing to UAT readiness. A blend of project management discipline and analytical problem‑solving is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans across multiple workstreams, ensuring clear sequencing, ownership and dependencies.
- Coordinate delivery across Enablement, Reporting, Governance and Product/Platform teams to ensure alignment with the programme roadmap.
- Gather, refine and document business and functional requirements, translating needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting artefacts.
- Map current and future‑state processes to support workflow clarity, dependency management and solution design.
- Maintain RAID logs and proactively identify, track and drive resolution of risks and issues.
- Lead cross‑workstream meetings, weekly cadences and status updates with stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver project reporting for programme leadership and steering committees.
- Support capacity planning and resource alignment across teams.
- Contribute to solution scoping sessions with technical teams to ensure requirements are feasible, clearly understood and aligned to programme objectives.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Facilitate strong collaboration across engineering, reporting, data, governance, enablement and market teams.
- Ensure delivery teams have the information, requirements, context and assets needed to progress their workstreams.
- Consolidate inputs from markets and technical teams into structured, actionable requirements or process documentation.
- Drive alignment across governance, reporting and enablement workflows to avoid duplication or mis‑sequencing.
- Support impact assessments for new features, reporting standards, data changes or governance updates.
- Validate that proposed solutions meet business needs, stakeholder expectations and operational constraints.
Proactive Triage & Issue Resolution
- Act as a first‑line triage point for incoming requests, queries and issues — quickly assessing priority, scope and routing to the correct owner.
- Break down ambiguous or ad‑hoc requests into clear problem statements, requirements or next steps.
- Reduce SLAs on incoming work by resolving or routing items quickly and accurately.
- Track recurring issues across markets, teams or systems and identify systemic patterns or root causes.
- Support structured analysis of defects or incidents by assessing business impact and clarifying required remediation.
- Escalate blockers to the PMO Lead or workstream owners with well‑formed recommendations.
- Provide clarity and structure around unplanned requests to maintain delivery stability and focus.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Build strong working relationships with market stakeholders, product managers, engineers, analysts and programme leadership.
- Translate technical or complex information into clear, concise guidance for non‑technical audiences.
- Produce high‑quality communications for project updates, governance forums, release cycles and decision‑making forums.
- Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements, constraints and success criteria.
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and decision‑making discussions, ensuring actions, owners and next steps are clearly documented.
- Support UAT readiness by helping clarify test cases, triaging defects and validating that requirements have been met.
About You
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, ideally in digital, data, media, platform or transformation environments.
- Strong delivery discipline with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous workstreams.
- Highly proactive, solutions‑oriented and comfortable working with ambiguity.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
- Strong communicator, adept at working across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience facilitating cross‑functional alignment and managing dependencies across complex ecosystems.
Preferred Experience
- Media experience — understanding of media channels, campaign workflows, KPIs, reporting cycles or martech/adtech environments.
