What You’ll Do

• Lead the delivery of core neuroscience teaching on the MRes Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology, helping to provide a high‑quality, internationally recognised learning experience while supporting assessment and the wider programme team.
• Lead and deliver neuroscience modules, teaching the majority of lectures and overseeing the smooth delivery of each module.
• Coordinate guest speakers and seminar leaders, including planning content, scheduling sessions and supporting teaching contributors.
• Develop engaging teaching materials, including lecture content, reading lists, presentations, handouts and student exercises.
• Design and manage assessments, including setting coursework, updating marking criteria, marking work, coordinating second markers and attending the annual Exam Board.
• Support continuous programme improvement by contributing to wider coursework and dissertation marking, reviewing student feedback and working closely with the Programme Directors and teaching team.

What you’ll bring

• The ideal candidate will be an experienced psychology or neuroscience academic with strong knowledge of developmental psychopathology, a genuine enthusiasm for teaching, and the ability to deliver high-quality learning and assessment as part of a collaborative postgraduate programme.
• Hold a PhD in Psychology or Neuroscience.
• Have strong knowledge of neuroscientific methods used in psychology, including EEG, MRI and fMRI, and understand how neural circuitry relates to affective processing and the development of mental health disorders.
• Bring practical experience of using neuroscientific methods in research or academic settings.
• Have experience teaching or tutoring in higher education, particularly on mental health disorders from multiple clinical and scientific perspectives.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, strong digital skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key details

• Hours: Part‑time (4 hours per week, across 1 day; the post‑holder will need to be available to teach on Wednesdays).
• Salary: £47,892 FTE per annum, plus 6% contributory pension scheme.
• Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 40% of their working hours, at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).
• Contract type: Permanent.
