Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth. This position supports the Global Strategic Advisory business group which is part of the Ankura Consulting Group. Our Newstate practice is an international financial advisory firm with offices in London, seeking to expand its activities and wishes to recruit a Senior Director.

The Senior Director will be expected to support the Partners work with sovereign clients, public sector institutions and sovereign creditors. This will include advice on sovereign debt management, debt restructuring, capital markets access and creditor engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quantitative and analytical support across both sovereign-side and creditor-side mandates, including debt sustainability analysis, debt portfolio analysis, cash flow modelling, financing strategy, liability management options, recovery analysis and assessment of potential restructuring scenarios.
  • Monitor developments in emerging market debt capital markets, track sovereign credit and financing conditions, and undertake research into countries facing or at risk of facing debt distress.
  • Support the preparation of client presentations, proposals and strategic briefing materials for governments, official sector stakeholders, sovereign creditors and investor groups, translating complex financial and macroeconomic analysis into clear, practical advice for senior decision-makers.
  • Collaborate closely with senior colleagues, and may involve frequent overseas travel to support client engagements and business development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Degree qualification ideally in Economics or Finance.
  • Extensive experience in complex financial modelling.
  • Previous experience working with sovereigns on financial matters is a distinct advantage.
  • Sound understanding of financial markets and instruments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with macro-economic fundamentals; fluency in another language is an advantage.
  • Frequent overseas travel is foreseen.
