Ankura's Intelligence & Asset Tracing practice is growing. We are seeking an experienced Director to manage and oversee case work and proposals as we position ourselves for the next phase of growth. As a Director, you will work closely with the practice lead to build Ankura's global Intelligence & Asset Tracing offering, establishing its market positioning. You will be a key member of our wider Global Risk Advisory practice, supporting investigations and disputes alongside complex standalone engagements.
You will have responsibility for managing challenging intelligence led investigations, due diligence assignments and international asset tracing exercises; delivering high-quality proposals and reports; collaborating with colleagues across the company to identify and proactively respond to new business opportunities; and leading business development and branding initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality engagements globally, with a specialisation in at least one of three geographic regions – Greater China, Africa or Russia/former Soviet Union. Fluency in local languages from these areas is a strong preference. Whilst this role is based in London, you will interact with colleagues across our 30+ offices globally and clients across markets worldwide. Through your work within the Global Risk Advisory team and collaboration with other business leaders, you will support Ankura's culture of integrity, accountability and trust.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage due diligence, asset tracing and other intelligence‑led investigations globally.
- Manage a team of global investigators ensuring high‑quality and timely reports and proposals that address client requirements.
- Develop and nurture a culture of ethical excellence, accountability, and continuous development.
- Review reports drafted by team members to ensure that they are presented in a well‑structured, logical and objective manner.
- Lead on providing training and support to the wider team on online research, report writing, case management and discreet human‑source enquiries.
- Proactively identify business opportunities with the practice lead and colleagues in different service lines and work collaboratively with them to drive success.
- Actively support marketing and branding initiatives in collaboration with the practice lead, leaders in other business units and the marketing team by attending networking events, presenting at conferences, and authoring thought leadership.
- Ensure that investigations are carried out ethically and in compliance with relevant legislation, including UK, European & US regulations relating to confidentiality and data protection.
- Demonstrable experience in a senior manager position in a reputable professional services firm.
- Experience managing complex international asset tracing, due diligence and intelligence‑led investigations.
- Ability to coordinate resources and manage multiple concurrent projects and proposals, managing your own time to deliver against competing demands.
- Experience demonstrating judgment, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive investigations.
- Commercial approach to proposal writing and scoping.
- Excellent analytical, interviewing, writing, and communication skills, with strong report‑writing capabilities.
- Experience working in complex, matrixed, and/or multinational organizations.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to collaboration and excellence.
- Experience in successfully delivering business development initiatives in an international professional service environment with a strong and active personal network.
- Confidence in undertaking business development activities, including direct efforts to win work from key buyer groups.
- Proven ability to win work directly from clients through business development activities.
- Global experience with specific geographic specialisation in a key market such as China, Africa and Russia.
- Fluent in English; additional languages especially Chinese, Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish or Portuguese would be advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree and an advanced degree in law, criminal justice, HR, or a related field, preferred but not required.
- Relevant certification, CFE or ACAMs, preferred but not required.
