Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for an experienced casual Veterinary Nurse to join our Ipswich Community Veterinary Clinic! You’ll be working with a team of highly skilled and passionate veterinary professionals under the banner of one of the most respected brands in animal welfare. If you are passionate about making a direct impact on animal welfare, we’d love to talk to you. This is a high-volume, fast-paced clinic where you will gain excellent exposure across the entire veterinary practice. You must be of a calm disposition with the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with routine examinations and consultations
- Prepare and implement surgery schedules
- Provide veterinary nursing care and grief support to clients
- Assist in radiography, surgical procedures, monitor patient anaesthesia, and post-operative procedures
- Nurse hospitalised animals, monitor clinical signs, and communicate with owners
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and empathy for community animal health and welfare issues
Minimum Requirements
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or recognised equivalent
- Minimum of 2+ years' vet nursing experience
- Excellent animal handling skills
- Experience in a busy, fast-paced work environment
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Desired previous experience in a shelter/rescue environment
