We are seeking an Animal Nursing Assistant to join our Teesside team, working every other weekend on a 6 month contract. This part time role is ideal for someone with a passion for animal care who is seeking flexible weekend work and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

As an Animal Nursing Assistant working weekends you'll play a crucial role in supporting emergency cases and ensuring the well-being of inpatients and pets using our A+E service. You'll assist the veterinary team by providing essential hands-on care, feeding, walking and caring for the inpatients. Support the nursing team with tasks such as laboratory work, and prepping of theatre areas. You will also be required to carry out reception work, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the clinic.

This role offers the right candidate a diverse range of responsibilities across all areas of our hospital, ensuring that no two shifts are the same. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of many pets during each shift.

Our new hospital features 9 spacious consulting rooms, 3 fully equipped operating theatres, a diagnostic suite, digital X-ray, a dedicated dental suite, and an isolation unit. We also provide separate cat and dog wards for low-stress patient care, along with a central prep area to support efficient clinical workflow. Designed to deliver first opinion, referral, and out-of-hours care, our facility brings high-quality veterinary services to pets in the surrounding community.

About you:

  • Compassionate and caring, with a passion for animal welfare
  • Attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise tasks to manage workload according to the needs of the service
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous experience in a veterinary environment is advantageous but not necessary

Job Particulars:

  • Shift times: 09:00- 19:00hrs (30 minute unpaid lunch)
  • Average hours of 9.5hrs a week
  • Rota: Every other Saturday and Sunday (share of bank holidays)
  • Salary: £12.71PH
  • Holidays: 5.6 weeks (including Bank Holidays)
  • This is a fixed Term contract for 6 months
