Package: ÂŁ100,000 per annum depending on experience, with excellent benefits.

Location: We are flexible on the location for this role; it can be based fully remote in the UK (including a streamlined remote onboarding process), hybrid, or based within our office in Amesbury.

Responsibilities

  • As Head of Actuarial Market Trading, you will play a pivotal role in driving short‑term tactical pricing and trading decisions through close monitoring of market positions, competitor behaviour and portfolio performance.
  • You will own pricing input into product selection, distribution and marketing strategy, translating technical, behavioural and commercial insight into clear target street prices and decision guardrails.
  • The role will provide critical pricing support to FP&A, including ownership of the pricing technical account view, integration of forecast narratives, and delivery of executive‑level and monthly performance reporting across pricing and trading.
  • Working cross‑functionally, you will lead the continuous delivery of pricing and commercial change, ensuring agreed pricing and underwriting decisions are translated into clear rating engine requirements and technical change plans.
  • You will support the development and governance of inflation assumptions, reserving‑for‑pricing, underwriting and loss‑ratio forecasting, reinsurance reporting, and behavioural and lifetime value models, producing high‑quality MI to support pricing decisions.
  • The role also includes ownership of pricing decision forums and rate change approvals from a pricing perspective, line management of a small team of market analysts, and full compliance with FCA Conduct Rules.

Qualifications

  • Actuarial or pricing qualification (or equivalent experience) with strong insurance pricing expertise.
  • Solid grounding in technical pricing, reserving, forecasting and behavioural/customer modelling.
  • Experience in price optimisation, rate setting, fair value decision‑making and tactical trading.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, distribution economics and regulatory/customer outcomes.
  • Comfortable translating insight into clear MI, executive reporting and pricing decisions.
  • Experience with rating engines, pricing system change and end‑to‑end delivery.
  • Strong commercial judgement, balanced with analytical rigour and evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Proven ability to lead stakeholders, own forums and communicate clearly at executive level.
  • Confident operating across strategy and hands‑on execution in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Able to drive change, remove blockers and convert ambiguity into action.
  • A collaborative leader who coaches others, encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Operates with a strong risk, control and conduct mindset, escalating issues when required.
