Hi, I’m Shun, founder and CEO of Anima. I left my career as a doctor because I was tired of seeing patients die from delays and misdiagnosis. Our mission is to deliver precision medicine to anyone, anywhere, in under 24 hours. Our platform already serves millions of patients and 10x the capacity of doctors. But the truth is, we’re just getting started. We’re building toward a superhuman, personalised medicine agent that could go well beyond humans, crunching tens of thousands of low level features at genome and transcriptome level. We’re a tight crew of builders and operations working at the cutting edge of healthcare reinforcement learning and agentic AI, and we’re looking for exceptional people to join us. If you want your skills to have the highest possible stakes, you belong at Anima. Your work here will save lives. Period.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 4+ years experience doing 0-1 design work at a high-growth startup. Maybe you were the founding product designer or part of a small team that made a tangible impact.
- Is obsessed with design and truly loves the craft. You’ve cultivated a meticulous eye for aesthetics and care deeply about every detail.
- Has experience in frontend development. That may be working with Cursor or Claude Code to ship contributions to production.
- Is both intellectually rigorous and highly empathic. You’re often able to intuit a user’s situation, motivation, and desired outcome, even with minimal research, and translate these into optimal interactions and interfaces.
- Is a self-starter who values ownership. You’re comfortable prioritising and working iteratively; guided by user feedback, data, and company goals, without hand-holding.
- Is a competent product manager and isn’t afraid of code. Maybe you came to design from product management or engineering.
- Is a clear and compelling communicator. When sharing work with your team or customers, you make an impact and inspire others to listen; even when there’s pushback.
- Is a team-player who thrives when working with others.
- Is driven and wants to play their part in redesigning healthcare.
What to expect in the role:
- A design-first culture
- High autonomy and ownership. You’ll lead the design for multiple new opportunities, end-to-end.
- Intellectually challenging projects that will save lives. For example, how might we make it faster for our clinical users to send appointment invites to patients? This path can be traversed by clinical users hundreds of times a day, ensuring people like you and I get the care they need.
- Close connection with our customers. You’ll work closely with the Anima Champions community; our most fanatical and vocal customers. You’ll join customer calls and visit GP practices to develop a deep understanding of their problems, wants, and needs.
- The chance to work with exceptional product builders who deeply respect design. Like Skupie, who put the first self-driving semis on Canadian roads. Or Souradip, a doctor with a PhD who’s won awards for his technical achievements. Both are lead engineers at Anima.
- Influence over our strategy. You’ll shape our roadmap and ensure that we prioritise and build products that lead to the highest total network value deltas. We don’t have Product Managers (and we may never), so both thinking and execution will be required.
- A chance to build the design machine for the future. You’ll help formalise our design standards and scale our design tools so we keep shipping features that result in a high retention delta.
