Primary purpose and function of position: Reporting to the First Line Manager in the Department, the role of an Engineering Operator Technician is a multi-skilled position. The main purpose of this position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in support of a high-speed packaging line, production or utilities areas. The role is vital for the efficiency, quality and cost of the plant. An Engineering Operator Technician will look to improve the reliability and safety of the plant and production processes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working for the Technical Services Department, you will work in a team consisting of multi-skilled engineers.
- You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to support production in Packaging and Brewing & Utilities.
Accountabilities:
- Duties include:
- Electrical maintenance, including:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance
- PLC controlled systems - Siemens S7 PLC's or suitable PLC experience.
- Fault finding, single and three phase supplies
- Machinery fault diagnosis and repairs
- Instrument calibration
- 17th edition qualification
- Use of Plant Optimisation tools to ensure sustainability of high departmental standards including 5S, Hygiene and PDCA
- Undertake, drive and support maintenance and improvement activities
- Share best practice across shifts with respect to maintenance and CIL
- Review and develop safety and maintenance procedures (SWI)
- Record all maintenance activities within maintenance management system (SAP)
- Liaise with suppliers of OEM’s for the provision of spares/services
- Maintenance prioritisation and planning
- Support the development and maintenance of a high performance, flexible and “can do” culture
- Analyse machines to improve performance
- Identify critical spares for designated machines
- Refurbish spares as required
- Complete some work at heights, confined space & as a lone worker
- Project work
- Carry out quality inspections on jobs
- Liaise with & assist client departments and customers
- Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- Monitor and control maintenance costs
- Write, review & update maintenance SOP’s, OPL’s & job tasks.
- Work in a safe manner following all company policies and procedures
- Ensure all safety systems are in working order

- Good communication skills and above all take pride in the work they are completing
- On occasions you will be expected to work with external contractors
- Understanding of LEAN, Continuous Improvements, HACCP, Food Safety protocols.
- Undertake activities to support VPO compliance and sustainability
- Comply with health, safety, hygiene and 5S standards policies and practices at all times and ensure standards are maintained

- 5S and hygiene will be of the utmost importance and a good understanding of Quality testing and microbiology would be useful.

- Strong organisation skills with a structured and systematic approach, adhering to deadlines, able to work on own initiative and prioritise workload effectively.
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent electrical qualification
- IEE 17th Edition is preferred
- Proven fault finding and maintenance of high speed production equipment
- PLC and network configuration expertise
- Good communication skills
- Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering function
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing principles, tools and techniques
- Good numeracy, literacy and verbal communication skills
