The Company
Are you looking for a rewarding career, working with the friendly and supportive team, with great staff benefits and all set-in beautiful surroundings?
Then Augustinian Care, St George’s Park is the place for you!
Our two sixty-bed Care Homes are based in St George’s Park, Ditchling Common, within 3 miles of both Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, set within 250 acres of beautiful gardens and farmlands, in an area of outstanding natural beauty with views overlooking the South Downs.
You will be part of a dedicated team that offers the residents of our purpose-built care homes kind and compassionate care, in line with our company ethos. If you are caring by nature and enjoy looking after others, then being a Care Assistant at Augustinian Care is for you.
You will have access to our excellent training programme, and we pride ourselves on a continuous improvement plan for all our new and existing staff to ensure they have the ongoing knowledge, skills and commitment to become and continue to be a successful, valued member of our team.
Our rates of pay are competitive, and our staff benefits are extensive and include free uniform, free meal, paid breaks and a free staff minibus service from both the Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath areas.
The Role
The Chef will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Catering department within the Home, including the planning, preparation, and cooking of nutritious meals for our residents during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner services. As Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the catering function within the home and ensuring a high quality of service, hygiene, and cleanliness is always maintained throughout the kitchen.
At times, you will be required to plan and implement new menus, liaising with the Home Manager and Care team to stay up to date with special dietary requirements of our residents.
Good verbal and written communication skills are required to ensure all records are kept up to date including temperature charts, stock lists, order forms, and food consumption details.
Requirements
The successful candidate will hold, or be working towards, a City and Guilds 706 1 & 2 qualification, or relevant NVQ qualifications, along with a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate. As well as this, you will also need to have at least two years’ experience in Catering, or within a similar role.
Whilst experience of working within a Care Home is not essential, the successful candidate will need to have a broad understanding of special dietary needs and have the ability to adapt to the needs of our residents.
You will also have the ability to manage a busy kitchen whilst maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism, and the ability to lead and work well within a team.
All posts are subject to a clear enhanced criminal record check and satisfactory references.
Although it is no longer a legal requirement for staff working within CQC regulated Care Homes for Older Adult Care in England to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated, in the best interests of our staff and residents, we have decided to keep it a mandatory requirement to work for our organisation. Therefore, we will need proof of your COVID Vaccination pass.
You must have current valid right to work in the UK.
This role does not meet the requirements of Sponsorship.
