Part of the Argento Group, Angus Properties LTD is an integrated design and construction property development company. Specializing in the redevelopment of heritage buildings, we have built up a 20-year track record, including Laganview House, 13 Lombard Street, and The Printworks. We have now commenced the restoration and extension of a project on the Newtownards Road.

We are now recruiting for an experienced Architect Retail Designer to join the busy team in assisting with shop fits and redesigns as well as assist in other group projects.

Location: Based in Belfast, the role may involve some travel throughout Northern Ireland, Ireland, and the UK (valid driving licence and vehicle required).

Contract: Fixed term contract (12 months)

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced architecture and property development company with a growing track record of delivering award-winning projects. The Architect Retail Designer plays a key role in shaping branded retail environments, creating functional, visually engaging shop units that enhance customer experience and support commercial performance. This role offers a diverse and interesting portfolio of work, with involvement in the design and development of retail units across the UK and Northern Ireland. You will contribute to concept creation, detailed design, material selection, and coordination with contractors to ensure each store is delivered to a high standard and reflects the brand's identity. Overseeing project execution from design to store opening.

About you: The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following technical design expertise as well as these attributes.

  • Strong concept design abilities demonstrated through university projects and/or relevant work experience
  • Strong technical design abilities and ideally experience in refurbishment works at any scale
  • At least 5 to 10 years experience in a similar role/post qualification
  • Develop retail design concepts, layouts, and detailed architectural drawings
  • Select materials, finishes, and fixtures aligned with brand standards
  • Coordinate with marketing, merchandising, and construction teams
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and sustainability standards
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and contractor coordination
  • Present concepts to stakeholders and revise based on feedback
  • Conduct site surveys and supervise construction to ensure design accuracy
  • Familiar with the use of AI-assisted visualisation tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and presentation skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with good numerical and verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Commercially focused with strong drive to deliver
  • Ability to multi-task and show initiative

Qualifications: Degree in Architecture (preferably Part III) or Interior Design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp required. Strong understanding of retail trends and visual merchandising. Excellent communication and project management skills. Ideal candidates will be available to start the role immediately if successful in the recruitment and selection stage.
