Our business delivers high-performance nutrition solutions across the amenity, agriculture and horticulture sectors. We supply fertilisers and plant nutrition products throughout the UK and the EU, and our setup allows us to offer a highly flexible service and bespoke product development. As a Fertiliser Sales Specialist, you will bridge the gap between technical agronomic advice and commercial sales. You will manage and grow our customer portfolio across Scotland and the north of England by building long-term relationships with distributors, commercial growers and farmers. As a technically minded individual, you will also handle relevant supplier relationships to facilitate the strategic procurement of speciality raw materials. Key responsibilities: Utilise excellent interpersonal skills to maintain and develop existing customer accounts. Proactively seek and secure new sales accounts. Provide technical fertiliser and plant nutrition product advice, and continue to develop technical knowledge and awareness. Build long-term relationships using a consultative approach - understanding customer needs, providing practical advice, and delivering consistent follow-up. Collaborate with technical colleagues to assess the viability, quality, and cost-effectiveness of new raw materials and ingredients. Manage ongoing communications with domestic and international suppliers to ensure consistent supply chains and competitive pricing of speciality raw materials. Apply feedback from customer interactions and market demand data to inform new product innovation and develop bespoke products that fulfil customers' requirements. Contribute to the company's social media presence from a technical perspective. Attend key industry trade shows, technical events, and networking opportunities. Communicate effectively with all colleagues to fulfil customers’ expectations and provide a high level of customer service. Candidate profile: Agronomical knowledge relating to at least one of the amenity, horticultural or agricultural sectors, and a willingness to widen your technical awareness to become knowledgeable of all three sectors. Experience in the sales environment, preferably selling fertilisers or related products, would be an advantage. Commercially driven with a proactive and results-oriented mindset. Experience or a strong aptitude for procurement and contract negotiation, ideally within speciality commodities or inputs. Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently. Take pride in working as part of a highly motivated and effective team. Hold FACTS qualification or be motivated to study towards the qualification. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers. Based in Scotland and be in a position to attend the production site on a regular basis. Hold a valid UK driving licence and have a willingness to undertake domestic travel.
