I am working with a leading Lloyd's specialty insurer, supporting the continued growth of their Credit & Political Risk portfolio across global markets.

As the team continues to develop, they are looking for a commercially minded Credit & Country Analyst to join the team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong credit, financial markets or economic analysis background to move into a specialist insurance environment and work closely alongside experienced underwriters.

The Role

As a Credit & Country Analyst you will support the Underwriting team across credit analysis, portfolio management and underwriting decisions

You will analyse corporate, banking and sovereign financial information, assess counterparty creditworthiness and help the underwriting team identify and manage emerging risks across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse financial statements, corporate and banking data, country economics and other third-party information to support underwriting decisions.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of corporate, financial institution and government counterparties.
  • Monitor the existing portfolio for concentration, correlation and signs of credit deterioration.
  • Develop and implement structured and consistent credit analysis processes and documentation.
  • Work with portfolio optimisation models, risk appetites, group company data, outwards reinsurance and syndicate business forecasts.
  • Prepare credit analysis, reports and presentations relating to insurance enquiries.
  • Conduct research into global economic, financial and insurance-related topics and assess their impact on the portfolio.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating meetings and communicating key findings where required.
  • Support strategic and structural optimisation projects
  • Work collaboratively with underwriting and other departments to provide specialist credit analysis and insight.

About You

  • Experience in an analytical role within Financial Markets, Insurance, Investments, a Rating Agency or a similar environment.
  • Strong credit analysis skills and an ability to assess corporate, banking and sovereign credit risk.
  • Strong understanding of global economics, macroeconomic concepts and major financial indicators.
  • Experience using credit analysis tools, information providers and financial data platforms.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point skills.
  • Degree-level qualification in Economics, Finance or a related discipline preferred.
  • CFA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience developing or building credit analysis tools would be a plus.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to work accurately in a constantly evolving risk environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage across different levels of an organisation.
  • Proactive, commercially minded and able to work collaboratively within a specialist underwriting environment.
