About Us
The Angola LNG Project is the result of a partnership between Sonangol, Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (Chevron’s affiliate in Angola), TotalEnergies, Azule Energy Angola Production B.V., and Azule Energy Exploration (Angola) Ltd. The project gathers and processes natural gas and delivers up to 5.2 million tonnes of LNG per year to the global market. Different companies manage the Angola LNG project value chain through service agreements with Angola LNG Limited.
This role operates within the Cargo Operations team at Angola LNG Marketing Ltd (“ALM”), based in London. ALM is responsible for conducting LNG marketing activities and LNG and Liquids sales operations on behalf of Angola LNG, and through Angola LNG Supply Services (ALSS) for managing the dedicated fleet of vessels that ship LNG for delivery. ALM is also responsible for managing the Angola LNG brand and for all external communications.
Overview of The Role
ALM is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior LNG Operator to join the Cargo Operations team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and administration of LNG sales transactions, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient cargo operations. This role requires close coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including schedulers, surveyors, laboratories, buyers, and joint venture partners, to ensure contractual obligations are met and operational performance is maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, issue, and execute Confirmation Notices in accordance with company procedures and contractual timelines.
- Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of SPAs, MSPAs, and other relevant agreements for each cargo delivery.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with surveyors and monitor cargo quality; act as the focal point for cargo quality issues, liaising with the Angola LNG Soyo Laboratory and surveyors as required.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders and the LNG Scheduler to identify and mitigate operational risks that could impact delivery obligations.
- Provide operational and commercial input into tender processes, including plant production updates and support during Confirmation Notice negotiation and implementation.
- Support sales transactions and sales agreement negotiations by providing LNG operations subject matter expertise.
- Review and assess Buyer/Seller change requests in coordination with the LNG Scheduler.
- Initiate invoicing process for submission to Finance.
- Support the management and resolution of buyer disputes and claims.
- Calculate, monitor, and record demurrage and excess boil-off claims.
- Maintain accurate and organised filing and archiving of cargo documentation.
- Provide cover and operational support for other team members as required.
Personal Attributes & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in LNG, shipping, or cargo operations.
- Strong understanding of LNG scheduling, shipping logistics, and cargo operations.
- Experience working within a joint venture environment is desirable.
- Sound commercial awareness with a strong understanding of contractual obligations and operational risk.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
Working Arrangements: Based in London with a requirement to attend the office three days per week.
