ANGLO Leaders (ALs) are responsible for planning and running a fun, engaging leisure programme for teenagers. This will include leading a variety of sports and creative activities, acting as a guide on trips to places of interest, and running social events such as talent shows, themed discos, and quiz nights. ALs need to be ready to chat with students, encourage them to use English, and make sure they fully enjoy their time in the UK.

An overview of the role follows:

  • Develop and lead high-quality, engaging activities that meet the needs of ANGLO teenage students.
  • Lead full and half-day excursions.
  • Supervise the students during their stay, ensuring their safety at all times.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing for and leading groups of students on full and half-day excursions, giving them basic information on the places they visit, and stimulating their interest, communicating with them throughout.
  • Leading well-organised activity sessions (sports, discos, games, crafts, etc.) with enthusiasm and creativity.
  • Leading engaging workshops with enthusiasm, following the guidelines laid out by the Workshop and Teaching Supervisor (WTS).
  • Reporting to and liaising with the Activity Manager (AM) regarding excursions, activities, and meal duties, and with the WTS for workshops.
  • Assisting with arrivals and departures.
  • Helping supervise students during meals, on campus, and in the accommodation.
  • Assisting in the event of an emergency.
  • Reporting to and liaising with the Activity Manager.
  • Supervising and encouraging students to participate in all aspects of the programme.
  • Encouraging students to speak English at all times.
  • Reporting student absences or sickness at the beginning of each session.
  • Showing sensitivity to the group and individuals and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Reading, updating, and responding to risk assessments for all activities on and off campus and checking all equipment to ensure its safe usage.
  • Responding to any feedback from students and group leaders.
  • Being the face of ANGLO by wearing any provided uniform, implementing ANGLO’s ethos of care, and being committed to the welfare and safeguarding of students and group leaders.

Requirements:

  • You have the right to work 40+ hours per week in the UK between June and August.
  • You attend the mandatory training weekend in London from 13th to 15th June.
  • Confident, professional, enthusiastic, and able to lead 10 - 18 year-olds.
  • Computer literate and competent with Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.).
  • Approachable, friendly, and able to build rapport with young people.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team player attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure, strong work ethic, and ability to implement change at short notice.
  • First aid/lifeguarding qualification.
  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Route planning experience.
  • Studying for or holding a related degree.

ANGLO is committed to implementing Safeguarding and Prevent policies and guidelines. All successful applicants will be required to take online certification in line with ANGLO policies and procedures.

PAY: £547.35 per week, based on 40 hours, holiday pay included. No overtime payment unless agreed with Head Office.

BED & BOARD: Residential position. Full bed and board.

HOURS: Average 40 hours per week. You may be required to work in excess of 48 hours per week. Evening and weekend work are required. You’ll work a six-day week and get one full day off per week.

CONTRACT: Temporary, fixed term.

PREPARATION: Safeguarding training and timetabling information provided before you start. Comprehensive training provided at the training weekend. Continued on-the-job support given.
