EFL Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering high‑quality lessons following the ANGLO syllabus. ANGLO sessions promote the communicative approach with emphasis on speaking and listening skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons that meet the needs of ANGLO teenage students.
- Work closely with colleagues in the teaching team to deliver the ANGLO experience.
- Embrace the communicative approach to language teaching and create an engaging, inclusive learning environment in language lessons, excursion lessons and project lessons.
- Liaise with the Teaching Manager and/or WTS regarding all relevant teaching and student matters.
- Handle teaching levels and course types as directed by the TM/WTS, planning all classes sufficiently and marking students’ work.
- Select appropriate supplementary materials demonstrating sensitivity to the students’ needs and cultural backgrounds.
- Complete a weekly scheme of work.
- Complete attendance registers accurately and report any absence or sickness to the TM/ATM at the beginning of each lesson.
- Be familiar with and follow guidelines outlined in the Teacher Manual.
- Attend and participate in teacher briefings, meetings and CPD sessions when required.
- Ensure students are prepared for presentations, excursions and cultural visits.
- Respond to any issues, incidents and/or complaints in an appropriate and timely manner; ensure that the Teaching Manager is informed as required.
- Exploit every opportunity for students to learn English both inside and outside the classroom.
- Create a positive learning environment that is well‑organised and supports the introduction of British culture as part of the curriculum.
- Provide students with adequate feedback on their work.
- Accurately complete the students’ academic reports.
- Follow ANGLO’s safeguarding and welfare policies at all times.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
Requirements
Essential
- You have the right to work in the UK.
- University degree + TEFLI qualification or equivalent experience (e.g.: CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, PGCE, 120 hour TEFL course).
- Native or near‑native English fluency.
- Dynamic teaching approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team‑player attitude.
- Commitment to high‑quality customer service, displaying a positive “can‑do” attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure, strong work ethic and ability to implement change.
- Committed to continuing professional development.
Desirable
- Prior experience of teaching U18s.
- Young Learners teaching qualification.
- Summer school experience.
- Experience of project‑based courses and/or task‑based learning.
- Experience of Trinity GESE exams.
Safeguarding and Policies
ANGLO is committed to implementing Safeguarding and Prevent policies and guidelines. All successful applicants will be required to take online certification in‑line with ANGLO policies and procedures.
DBS Clearance
All ANGLO staff are required to have enhanced DBS clearance to begin work.
Benefits
Bed & Board: Non‑residential: Not provided.
Hours
72 hours per 14‑night student programme, plus one 6‑hour paid induction and two 1‑hour CPD sessions on campus. No overtime payment unless agreed in advance with Head Office. On rare occasions we have to offer 14‑night 36‑hour programmes, in which case hours and remuneration are halved. We will always let you know if this happens.
Pay
£1,327.36 per 14‑night student programme including holiday pay. Plus 8‑hour induction/CPD package.
