ANGLO Leaders (ALs) areresponsible for planning and running a fun, engaging leisure programme for teenagers. This will include leading a variety of sports and creative activities, acting as a guide on trips to places of interest, and running social events such as talents shows, themed discos, and quiz nights. ALs need to be ready to chat with students, encourage them to use English and make sure they fully enjoy their time in the UK.

An overview of the role follows:

  • Develop and leadhigh-quality, engaging activities that meet the needs of ANGLOteenage students
  • Lead fun, structuredand communicative workshop sessions with ANGLO students
  • Lead full and halfday excursions
  • Supervise thestudents during their stay, ensuring their safety at alltimes

Your role & responsibilities

  • Preparing for andleading groups of students on full and half-day excursions,giving them basic information on the places they visit, stimulating their interest and communicating with them throughout
  • Leadingwell-organised activity sessions (sports, discos, games,crafts etc.) with enthusiasm and creativity
  • Leading engagingworkshops with enthusiasm, following the guidelines laid outby the Workshop and Teaching Supervisor (WTS)
  • Reporting to andliaising with the AM (excursions, activities, and meal duties)and WTS (workshops)
  • Assisting witharrivals and departures
  • Helping withsupervising students during meals, on campus and in theaccommodation
  • Assisting in theevent of an emergency
  • Reporting to andliaising with the Activity Manager
  • Supervising andencouraging students to participate in all aspects of theprogramme
  • Encouraging studentsto speak English at all times
  • Reporting studentabsences or sickness at the beginning of each session
  • Showing sensitivityto the group and individuals and creating a positive learningenvironment
  • Reading andresponding to risk assessments, and reporting risks for allactivities on and off campus and checking all equipment toensure its safe usage
  • Responding to anyfeedback from students and group leaders
  • Being the face ofANGLO by wearing any provided uniform, implementing ANGLO’sEthos of care, and being committed to the welfare andsafeguarding of students and group leaders

Requirements

Essential (Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements)

  • You have the right towork 40+ hours per week in the UK between June and August
  • You attend themandatory training weekend in London
  • Confident,professional, enthusiastic and able to lead 10 – 18 yearolds
  • Computer literate andcompetent with Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, GMailetc)
  • Approachable,friendly and able to build rapport with young people
  • Demonstrate strongorganisational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills, team playerattitude
  • Ability to work underpressure, strong work ethic and ability to implement change atshort notice
  • Firstaid/lifeguarding qualification
  • Experience ofworking with young people
  • Route planningexperience
  • Studying for orholding a related degree

Residential position.Full bed and board is provided

Hours

Average 40 hours per week at centre*. You may be required to work in excess of 48 hours per week. Evening and weekend work are required. You’ll work a six-day week and get one full day off per week.

* Centres with a final London weekend have a condensed block of approximately 30 hours across 3 days for ALs who participate in these trips

Pay

£569.76 per week, based on 40 hours, holiday pay included

No overtime payment unless agreed with Head Office
