The Technical Department is a vital department responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our diverse fleet of vessels. What You will Do
- Oversee and coordinate the technical management of the assigned fleet (typically 20–30 vessels) through a team of Vessel Managers, ensuring consistent application of Anglo‑Eastern standards and procedures.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Vessel Managers, providing guidance, feedback, and performance oversight to maintain high standards of safety, reliability, and cost control.
- Review and approve vessel budgets, major repair projects, and dry‑docking plans; monitor expenditures to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with owner expectations.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), international conventions, class, flag, and regulatory requirements across all vessels.
- Act as the escalation point for technical or operational issues, incidents, and emergencies, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Foster strong client relationships, maintaining open communication with shipowners on fleet performance, cost trends, and improvement initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement, analysing performance data, audit results, and incident reports to enhance reliability, maintenance planning, and operational practices.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Marine HR, QHSE, and Procurement teams to ensure cohesive support and resource alignment for the managed fleet.
- Report to Managing Director and Ship Owner on fleet performance, cost control, and key risks, providing recommendations for technical and operational improvements.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 7 years of shore‑based experience in technical or fleet management within a ship management environment.
- Proven experience leading a team of Vessel Managers or Technical Superintendents, with the ability to manage multiple vessels and clients effectively.
- Deep understanding of vessel systems, maintenance planning, and ship repair processes. A Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (or equivalent senior technical background) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, class and flag requirements, ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, and MARPOL.
- Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with fleet‑wide budgeting, cost analysis, and resource allocation.
- Experience with RoRo or short‑sea shipping operations is highly desirable, including familiarity with ramp systems, and high‑frequency port operations.
- Excellent command of English and strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
