The Technical Systems & Compliance Manager will be responsible for the day‐to‐day management, oversight, and continuous improvement of all site Quality Systems relating to Food Safety, Product Quality, and Integrity. This role ensures that the site remains fully compliant with legal, customer, and certification standards while driving a culture of accountability and excellence across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and continuously develop the site Quality Management System – ensuring full compliance with legal requirements, customer Codes of Practice, and company technical standards.
- Oversee and maintain all Food Safety, Quality and Integrity systems – ensuring they are robust, effective, and embedded across the site.
- Own and lead all risk‐based programs including HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP, ensuring regular review, validation, and verification.
- Act as the central technical data hub for the site – ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful analysis of quality metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
- Conduct detailed trend analysis – interpret data, and proactively identify risks, emerging issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead strong Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using structured problem‐solving methodologies and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Provide clear, confident communication and reporting to all levels of the business – from shop floor teams to senior leadership – ensuring full visibility of performance and compliance.
- Support and guide operational teams in understanding technical requirements, improving standards, and building capability.
- Manage and continually improve internal audit systems, ensuring compliance, readiness for customer and regulatory audits, and ongoing adherence to BRCGS standards.
- Champion a proactive food safety culture, encouraging curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement throughout the business.
- Provide technical guidance outside standard office hours when required, supporting operational needs and maintaining compliance.
Person Specification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels – from operators to senior stakeholders.
- Experience working within UK food manufacturing and directly with UK retailers.
- Proven ability to manage technical and quality systems in a fast‐paced, factory‐based environment.
- Hands‐on experience running internal auditing programmes.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence in using data to drive decisions, highlight issues, and propose solutions.
- A proactive, inquisitive mindset with a natural drive for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support teams to deliver against clear timelines.
Qualifications & Training
- HACCP Level 3 or 4
- Food Safety Level 3 or 4
- TACCP / VACCP training
- BRCGS Issue 9 understanding or qualification
- Lead Auditor certification
- Strong working knowledge of customer Codes of Practice
- Proficient in Microsoft Office package
