Job specification:
- Reviewing calves as they come on to unit to ensure they meet the procurement specification and raising concerns if this is not the case.
- Assist with tagging, vaccinating and weighing of animals where required.
- Regular visits to calf rearing units to ensure that rearers are compliant with protocols.
- Work closely with the veterinary team to ensure that calf health and welfare is upheld as a priority, helping to maximise growth rates and minimise losses and wastage.
- Collate data and assist the veterinary team in completing 6 monthly health reviews at each rearing unit.
- Use farm software to monitor data and records inputted by the rearer.
- Following up leads of potential new rearers, visiting them and their unit and assessing suitability.
