Anglo American is a leading global mining company, and our products are the essential ingredients in almost every aspect of modern life. We are constructing a state-of-the-art underground mine to enable the extraction of Polyhalite – a unique multi-nutrient fertiliser – along with the necessary infrastructure both above and below ground that will be required for transport, processing, and distribution.

Join us as The Construction Manager where you will be responsible for ensuring all construction scope on the Woodsmith site is planned, executed and evaluated such that all works are compliant with regulatory requirements and meet the agreed technical specifications, schedule and budget constraints. The Construction Manager will undertake day to day duties, always encouraging a positive safety and environment culture in the organization, preparing and implementing construction plans for the project, monitoring and reporting progress.

High level activities include:

  • Safety
    • Provide assurance that all construction activities comply with statutory requirements.
    • Ensure all SOPs/Permits/JHAs in place for all construction activities.
    • Conduct health and safety inspections and participate in the Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) program as required.
    • Ensure accident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with.
  • Construction Management
    • Interface on a daily basis with the Construction Contractors to ensure safety, quality, execution plans and schedule are tracked.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day progress analysis, management and reporting for all active scopes on the Woodsmith site.
    • Review and approve 7/21 forecast schedule, manage and report on any deviations from the project baseline schedule.
  • People/Leadership
    • Manage Surface and UG Superintendents rosters to ensure 24/7 emergency response and mine management coverage.
    • Immediately rectify or stop any operation or work that needs to be rectified or stopped on grounds of safety.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or similar.
  • A minimum of 10 years in Senior construction management positions preferably in Shaft sinking or Mining environment.
