Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Specialist to support the Commercial Finance Manager in driving the financial and commercial success of the Sakatti Project, one of Anglo American’s most exciting and strategically significant growth opportunities. Sakatti, located in Finland, is a cornerstone of our Growth Strategy, forming part of our ambition to deliver over 1Mt of value‑accretive copper production. Having successfully passed the PFS‑A stage gate in June 2025 and now progressing through PFS‑B (to be completed by end‑2026), the project is critical to Anglo American’s future equity story. In this role, you will prepare, analyse, and present the project’s business case, support key commercial workstreams, ensure strong governance and performance management of project financials, and help communicate progress and insights to senior stakeholders, playing a pivotal part in shaping the delivery of this flagship project.

Core Responsibilities (amongst others)

  • Ensure the overall financial evaluation model is being developed and tracked per the agreed timetable.
  • Support the techno‑economic modelling resource in collecting updated or outstanding inputs of the model across revenue, production, capex, opex and tax.
  • Review financial evaluation model outcomes, alternative scenarios, sensitivities and benchmarks to determine key insights and value drivers or further analysis required.
  • Prepare summary documents and presentations of financial evaluation model outcomes outlining a clear narrative of the Sakatti financial outcomes and business case.
  • Prepare for and participate in financial evaluation outcome review and sign‑off sessions.
  • Support the development of the PFS‑B finance chapter, aligned to ICBS requirements and required timetable.
  • Work with the Marketing, Tax, People, and Techno Economic chapter owners to ensure they are aware of requirements/timetable, have the necessary inputs from the financial evaluation model and review working versions of each chapter on an iterative basis to ensure completion.
  • Analyse alternative development pathways and value upside opportunities beyond the PFS‑B base case.
  • Support the preparation of the financial evaluation outcomes for GIA review, InvestCo and Board approval.
  • Preparation of adhoc analysis of financial outcomes on an iterative basis as required by Sakatti management and P&D.
  • Work with project controls and supply to execute against the Feasibility Budget timetable and workplan.
  • Develop budget templates aligned to agreed work breakdown structures, to facilitate the collection of inputs from budget managers and consistent consolidation of outputs (e.g. EUR/USD).
  • Co‑ordinate and participate in various workshops and one‑on‑one meetings with Project Director, HR and Budget managers to assist with the development of Feasibility budgets, completion and follow‑up of budget templates, acting as the key finance contact point.
  • Ensure governance processes are in place to manage study costs, invoice approvals and contingency drawdowns.
  • Performance management of study costs against PFSB Budget, monitoring FX impacts, deferrals and savings required.
  • Act as the key interface between Sakatti Finance and GSS/Planview to ensure financial results are accurately reflected.
  • Prepare necessary performance reporting and adhoc analysis information to internal and external stakeholders monthly and quarterly reporting, Steering Committees, Sakatti Board, Group QPRs and ProjectCo.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Financial modelling and business case preparation.
  • Interpret financial information and communicate this to end users.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to engage with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills to enhance long‑term commercial initiatives and business value.
  • Comfortable reading technical reports and understanding key conclusions.
  • Expert analytical skills required to interpret and summarise scientific data and information.
  • Proficiency in managing relationships between the Business and Corporate office.
  • Ability to ensure regulatory compliance and team compliance in line with code of conduct and ethical business practices.
  • Strong background in capital‑intensive industries, ideally energy or mining (or other extractive), with multi‑site and multi‑country operations.
