This is the chance to join us as a Principal, Climate Policy & Governance on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. Purpose
The purpose of this role is to:
- Lead on annual climate and nature‑related disclosures, whilst advising on the evolution of relevant disclosure frameworks;
- Support the wider annual sustainability‑related disclosure process, with a particular focus on integration with Teck;
- Lead on internal climate and nature related governance and advise on climate and nature‑related advocacy.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead on climate and nature‑related annual disclosure in the context of the Teck merger, recognizing Anglo American’s mandatory reporting obligations and voluntary undertakings.
- Support the broader Anglo American annual sustainability‑related data and disclosures processes, including optimizing the double materiality assessment and meeting non‑financial data and disclosure obligations (including GRI, ISSB, SASB).
- Support non‑financial reporting integration preparation in the context of the Teck merger.
- Monitor evolving climate and nature‑related disclosure obligations and identify gaps within Anglo American and Teck against those requirements and facilitate or support cross‑discipline action planning and tracking against these.
- Provide support in respect of delivery Anglo American’s environmentally‑linked advocacy approach, (e.g. UNFCCC, CBD and UNFCCC COPs, TNFD), working closely with Corporate Affairs.
- Lead of climate and nature‑related internal governance, including acting as secretariat for the Climate Change Committee, chaired by the ED Strategy & Sustainability.
- Develop climate‑related content to raise in Anglo American governance forums, including ELT, SusCo, RemCo, and other decision‑making forums.
- Support emerging integration‑linked workstreams as appropriate.
Knowledge
- Experience of climate and nature‑related data and disclosure, especially in mining or a related industry.
- Knowledge of international and national disclosures standards and of forthcoming changes to such standards.
- Experience of applying double materiality assessments to inform strategy and determine relevant KPIs and disclosures in line with reporting frameworks.
- Experience of climate and nature‑related policy making processes either at a national level or through international fora.
