37 Hours per week; shifts can vary with working hours between 9am - 9pm, so flexibility is required.
Become part of our sampling team! Before it reaches our customer's tap, drinking water is cleaned, disinfected and tested to ensure it's safe to be consumed; after the water has been flushed and poured into our sewers, it's delivered to our water recycling works, where it's cleaned before it gets passed back to nature, where it's also tested to ensure it's not going to damage the environment.
What will you be doing?
Joining the scientific sampling team, you will travel around the region visiting the sampler depots, picking up samples and driving them to Anglian Water's laboratory for analysis. Following vital scientific processes, you'll continuously work within the regulatory guidelines, meeting our quality standards to train to sample:
- Water treatment works
- Recycling centres
- Boreholes
- Reservoirs
- Rivers
- Customer properties
You will prepare various sampling bottles, ensuring the accuracy of every single sample that you collect. The work you'll do is critical to the whole scientific analysis process; you really will make a difference. You'll build effective working relationships with your colleagues back in the laboratory, who are relying on your high levels of service, and you'll also engage with customers, representing Anglian Water in a professional and approachable manner while delivering excellent customer service.
In this role, you will also get the opportunity to upskill as a Sampler, where you would not only collect water samples but also interact directly with our customers. You'll visit customer homes to conduct on-site sampling, answer any questions about the sampling process, and provide a high level of customer service.

What do you need?
You'll be a reliable and professional individual with experience of providing excellent customer service. You'll need to be comfortable with manual lifting and driving throughout the day. This role will find you working in a variety of environments; therefore, a flexible and can-do attitude is essential.
The ability to work within a defined method and record information accurately means you'll need focus and a strong attention to detail. Successful candidates will enjoy driving and working on their own whilst being part of a larger team. You should thrive in a time-critical role, be self-motivated, and able to work in an organised manner, ensuring all work is undertaken as specified by our methods and procedures.
If successful in your application, you will have access to a company vehicle to fulfil your role; you must hold a full Manual UK driving licence and live within the Peterborough area. Anglian Water is a 365-day-a-year operation; you'll have a flexible approach to your role and be required to take part in a standby rota, which will include weekend and evening sampling.
