Our Water Services team clean water to the highest standard, deliver it to millions of homes, and carefully manage it to ensure it never runs out. We borrow water from the environment, store it and treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby in the northeast of our region to Milton Keynes at the south-western tip.
In collaboration with the Maintenance Data team, the Visualisation & Data Analyst will take a leading role in the evaluation, and ongoing review of maintenance. You will support the development of performance analysis frameworks and data visualisation tools, applying your analytical expertise to generate actionable insights into the performance of Water Supply assets and the associated abstraction, treatment, pumping, and storage processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with subject matter experts to visualise operational performance and risk using PowerBI and other visualisation tools.
- Develop reports with user experience in mind, gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion Cyber Security and GDPR compliance within Water Supply and the analyst community.
- Act as Power BI and visualisation expert for Water Supply, ensuring reporting adheres to standards.
- Support wider Water Business stream in automated reporting and visualising risks across team boundaries.
- Provide feedback to stakeholders to drive action plans and improvements.
- Ensure reporting drives outcomes and deliverables.
- Escalate identified operational and business risks appropriately.
- Establish data ownership and verify business acceptance of data sources.
- Develop performance measures to support maintenance reporting.
- Support teams with visual reporting to track mitigation efforts and emerging threats.
- Analyse datasets to identify patterns, trends, and risks.
- Engage with operational colleagues and subject matter experts to support and drive the performance analytics.
Requirements:
- Level 3 equivalent in Data Science or Data Analytics.
- Strong operational knowledge of abstraction, treatment, transmission and storage of potable water.
- Experienced user of Power BI and data visualisation development.
- Appropriate professional qualification (e.g. CIWEM) advantageous.
- Experience in assessing risk and responding appropriately.
- Excellent IT skills including SAP, IRIS, Oracle.
- Good communication skills and ability to effectively deal with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise workload and adapt to operational demands.
- Proven leadership and team enablement skills.
- Highly developed analytical and strategic thinking skills.
