Make every drop of your potential count! Join Anglian Water’s Development Services team and play a key role in supporting sustainable growth across one of the UK’s fastest developing regions. Based within our Planning & Capacity team, this role offers the opportunity to work at the point where development, infrastructure and environmental responsibility meet. You’ll help guide how new housing, commercial and industrial developments can be brought forward in a way that protects our networks, supports customers and delivers long‑term resilience.

This is a chance to work on growth that genuinely shapes communities across the region, while influencing how development happens in a way that is sustainable, practical and environmentally responsible. You’ll be part of a team responsible for delivering our pre‑planning service to developer customers, assessing proposed developments and helping customers understand how their plans interact with our water and wastewater networks. Using operational data, network intelligence and technical assessment, you’ll identify constraints, risks and opportunities early, helping customers understand where capacity exists, where reinforcement may be needed, and what sustainable options should be considered.

This is a varied role that combines technical analysis, customer engagement and commercial awareness. You’ll manage enquiries ranging from straightforward developments through to more complex strategic sites, working with colleagues where wider network, environmental or planning considerations apply. Your work will directly support Anglian Water’s ambition to enable sustainable growth while protecting customers, communities and the environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assess developer enquiries and pre‑planning submissions across water and wastewater services
  • Identify potential network, capacity, flooding and environmental risks linked to proposed developments
  • Provide clear advice to developers, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Help identify sustainable points of connection and promote environmentally responsible solutions
  • Support early understanding of where reinforcement may be required
  • Contribute to planning decisions that support housing growth and long‑term network resilience
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams to ensure customer responses are accurate, timely and aligned

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who combines technical confidence with strong communication skills and enjoys working in a role where customer interaction is just as important as analysis. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Degree‑level qualification in a technical, engineering or environmental discipline
  • Experience within the water sector or a related utility, infrastructure or environmental field
  • Confidence interpreting technical data and turning it into clear practical advice
  • Strong written communication and report‑writing ability
  • A commercial mindset and awareness of practical, cost‑effective solutions
  • The ability to manage priorities and respond well to a varied workload

The way you work matters too:

We value people who are:

  • Customer‑focused and solution‑led
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across teams
  • Organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Curious, proactive and open to improving how things are done

Benefits:

  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service)
  • Flexible working options
  • Private health care
  • Competitive pension scheme – Anglian Water double‑matches contributions up to 6%
  • Life assurance at eight times your salary
  • Annual bonus
  • Potential funded car allowance depending on evidenced business mileage
  • Personal medical assessments
  • Virtual GP service
  • Cancer screening
  • Financial wellbeing support and salary finance benefits
  • Lifestyle savings including discounts on retail, travel and utilities
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Volunteer days
