The Role

As a Pollution Prevention Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our pollution datasets. You’ll investigate pollution incidents by analysing information such as photographs, samples, telemetry and historical data to support accurate capture and validation of core datasets. Where discrepancies arise, you’ll prepare high-quality appeal documents for our regulator, providing a clear overview of incidents and their likely environmental impact to support correct categorisation. You’ll also contribute to wider continuous improvement activities, helping to increase knowledge, influence behaviours and improve systems and processes. Acting as an advocate for the environment, you’ll promote pollution reduction and a zero pollutions mindset across internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, validating and enhancing pollution datasets, identifying discrepancies and auditing data quality
  • Compiling robust evidence for appeal documentation submitted to the Environment Agency (EA)
  • Obtaining and interpreting a range of corporate datasets, including photographs, sampling data, telemetry, job notes, mapping and modelling
  • Supporting the business with key EA guidance (including CICs and WIRI), particularly in producing incident Storyboards
  • Contributing to initiatives that drive knowledge, behavioural and system improvements through data gathering, action tracking and feedback collation
  • Acting as an environmental advocate, raising awareness of pollution prevention and reduction
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external environmental stakeholders

About You

  • High level of verbal and written communication
  • An ability to deliver work at pace to meet challenging deadlines
  • Resilient and adaptable to changing needs of the business
  • Self-directed with strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise
  • A proven ability to network and build collaborative partnerships both internally and externally
  • Full driving licence (you may be required to visit sites across the region which are only accessible by car)
