Circa £44,000 dependent on skills and experience
Fixed Term Contract - 12 months, 37 hours per week
Cotton Valley - Milton Keynes - hybrid role, with a 50/50 split

In this exciting role, you will effectively regulate 3rd party non-domestic discharges to ensure the business provides environmental and social prosperity to our region. You will provide scientific support and expertise to operational teams and the wider business, as well as ensuring appropriate and consistent enforcement is carried out and market retail codes are adhered to. Reporting to the Trade Effluent Regulation Manager, you will ensure all consents are reviewed on a risk basis to make sure they are fit for purpose, and enforcing consents proportionately, consistently and in line with Anglian Water policies and procedures. This role will include taking formal samples, gathering evidence, collating information and preparing documents required for legal proceedings, if necessary. This role requires you to have a full UK driving license.

Key responsibilities

  • Set appropriate and consistent consents following current legislation
  • Ensure all consents are reviewed on a risk basis to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Use technical and scientific expertise and judgement in applying procedures as required
  • Manage catchment areas as required to protect AW assets and product quality
  • Undertake catchment reviews to identify new or non-regulated traders
  • Assist in pollution incidents and other catchment issues as required and recover associated costs where possible
  • Provide a positive interface with external customers whilst ensuring product quality and asset condition are protected
  • Ensure Wholesale charges are raised in accordance with our published Wholesale Charges Scheme and safeguard the income stream for AW
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety, ensuring consistent standards are maintained

What does it take to be successful?

  • Knowledge of trade effluent and trade effluent regulation
  • Knowledge of water recycling sewage treatment process and collection systems
  • Able to demonstrate leadership experience to work independently and manage relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience of dealing with external stakeholders
  • Experience of working alone in an industrial environment
  • Able to assess risk related impacts of non-domestic discharges
  • Plan, prioritise and manage own workload in a largely self-managed environment
  • Adhere to procedures, regulations, GDPR and customer confidentiality requirements
  • Able to adapt communication style (both written and verbal) to suit a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
