The IOS Contract is a 5-year programme valued at approximately £444 million, delivering specialist water and water recycling projects. This role involves managing projects under the NEC3 contract suite, with a focus on Option E (Pre-Contract Planning) and Option A (Priced Contract with Activity Schedule). The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and delivery teams to ensure robust management of contractual obligations and compliance with Anglian Water’s governance standards. The role is employed by Anglian Water and involves working in partnership with alliance partners Barhale, Kier, and M Group.
What will you be doing as our new Quantity Surveyor?
- Provide commercial management for an allocated programme area of an alliance contract.
- Accountable to the Commercial Lead and responsible for:
- Demonstrating the highest levels of commercial integrity and financial self-assurance.
- Commercial management of the allocated programme area.
- Providing transparent, accurate and timely commercial reporting.
- Adherence to the alliance internal governance to satisfy contractual and legal requirements.
- Constantly striving to employ best commercial management practices.
- Identifying and delivering commercial process efficiencies.
- Identifying, reporting and proactively managing financial and commercial risk.
- Fostering close working relationships with all key stakeholders.
- Engendering a culture of commercial challenge.
- Controlling costs, maximising value and minimising future liabilities.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours:
- Good understanding of NEC3 forms of contract.
- Working in a complex matrix team environment.
- Thorough understanding of relevant construction and contract law.
- Relevant professional qualification e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE.
- Relevant degree in construction or commercial management.
- Excellent commercial acumen.
- Willingness to travel across the entire AW Region for meetings.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and mitigate commercial disputes.
- Act in a truly collaborative fashion and inspire others to do the same.
- Be proactive in managing allocated programme and promptly escalates issues as necessary.
