An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Drainage Engineer to join our Development Services Drainage team. You'll play a key role in ensuring new adoptable sewerage assets are designed to national standards and protecting our existing sewerage infrastructure. Working within an experienced team, you'll review sewer design proposals, assess diversion applications, and provide expert guidance to internal and external customers. Your work will support sustainable development, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service while helping shape the future of drainage infrastructure across our region.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure new adoptable sewerage assets meet national Design Construction Guidance and Anglian Water standards
  • Assess applications for sewer diversions to protect existing infrastructure
  • Provide technical advice on drainage design, sewerage law, and best practice
  • Deliver excellent customer service, building strong working relationships
  • Support innovative, sustainable drainage solutions and keep up to date with industry developments
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality asset delivery

What does it take to be a Drainage Engineer?

  • Degree or working towards a qualification in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience working on sewerage infrastructure design or within another Water Company
  • Knowledge of Sewerage Code for Adoption, DCG, and Sewerage Law
  • Strong communication, planning, and organisation skills
  • Ability to manage competing workloads and act on own initiative
  • Excellent numeracy, literacy, and decision-making skills
