AVH creates value through delivery of innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions, O&M and digital services in the municipal, industrial and commercial water sectors.
This role manages the development and delivery of projects aligned to AVH's medium to long-term growth strategy. It combines technical knowledge, problem solving, and project management to turn ideas into feasible, costed and deliverable solutions. You will shape early-stage concepts, undertake feasibility work, coordinate cross‑functional input, support the development of business cases, and ensure successful transition into detailed design or implementation. You will work closely with the Strategic Growth Programme Lead (SGPL) to ensure projects are prioritised, planned, and delivered on time and budget, creating value for AVH in the process.
Key responsibilities:
- Translate strategic objectives into engineering requirements, constraints and technical solutions.
- Conduct or oversee engineering assessments, modelling, calculations and simulations, risk assessments, system design and integration concepts.
- Manage the project development lifecycle and deliver outputs on time, on budget and most importantly, with safety and wellbeing front of mind.
- Develop and own the project programme, ensuring key internal and external stakeholders are bought in, and programmes are updated frequently, with significant changes communicated, governed and approved as required.
- Work with the SGPL to identify resources and budget requirements to enable phases of development and delivery to be executed.
- Input into project risk and opportunity registers and take ownership of mitigation / realisation strategies and elevate risks as required.
- Apply technical and commercial rigour to projects and tasks that require accurate and timely delivery and decision making.
- Produce timely progress reports on a monthly basis and present internally to the Strategy and Development team.

What does it take to be successful?
- A proven track record of project management and delivery experience in a regulated or commercial environment.
- Familiar with key stages of project enabling and development; surveys, environmental considerations, land, planning, and grid.
- Professional project management qualification or equivalent.
- Operational water / waste water experience.
- Experience in managing engineering projects across part of, or full lifecycle, and familiar with project governance, stage-gates, risk registers, and reporting.
- Analytical thinker – able to work logically through complex or ambiguous problems.
- Strong written communication skills and confidence in presenting.
- An understanding of customer needs and aspirations.
