We are looking for an experienced Group Senior Financial Accountant to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. In this critical role, you will be responsible for preparing the group consolidated annual and interim accounts, ensuring their accuracy and compliance with financial standards. You will establish and maintain efficient systems for collating and consolidating financial data from our business divisions, incorporating any changes in accounting standards. Additionally, you will liaise with external and internal auditors, prepare quarterly information for shareholders, and handle any ad-hoc financial requests. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial reporting.

What you’ll be doing
- Maintain and distribute Excel-based year-end and half-year consolidation packs to divisions, including detailed instructions.
- Consolidate completed consolidation packs using Tagetik for both year-end and half-year accounts.
- Reconcile inter-company balances at year-end and half-year by identifying discrepancies and collaborating with divisions to resolve them.
- Prepare proofs and reconciliations to support the group consolidation process.
- Ensure alignment between management and statutory accounts by applying year-end and half-year adjustments (tax, audit, provisions, etc.) to management accounts and reconciling opening balances.
- Prepare presentation packs and supporting documents for the CFO’s presentation of AWG results to stakeholders.
- Prepare the financial sections of the AWG plc annual report and interim accounts, including disclosure notes.
- Liaise with external auditors and ensure a clear audit trail supports the consolidated accounts.
- Ensure accounting policies comply with the latest UK GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and legal requirements.
What do you need to be successful
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or similar)
- Ideally from a Practice background or has good understanding of External Audit
- Strong knowledge of International Reporting Standards (IFRS), and UK GAAP
- Experience in producing statutory accounts to high standards
- Experience of consolidating large groups and complex accounting
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong technical and accounting skills
- Ability to challenge and produce coherent technical arguments
- Strong spreadsheet and relevant PC skills
