Do you have previous exposure to traffic management & logistics? Are you organised & proactive? At Anglian Water, we're looking to recruit a Traffic Controller to plan & control our LGV resources & equipment. This role is essential to ensure we respond to routine and non-routine emergency tinkering, jetting and sludge bulk/skip haulage requirements to our customers.
You'll be playing a pivotal part in ensuring we effectively transport water recycling by-products around the region from treatment centres to be sold as fertiliser products to farmers whilst also protecting the environment by playing a huge role in helping to minimise the risk of flooding and pollution by proactively jetting our sewers and drains to both prevent and clear blockages.
What does it take to be an Anglian Water Traffic Controller?
- The ideal candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, along with the following attributes:
- Excellent IT skills - experience with Microsoft Office suite is essential & any use of a CRM or Database system would transfer across well
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
- This is a fast-paced & important role, so having resilience & the ability to challenge and question stakeholders is essential
- A high level of attention to detail
- Previous traffic controller or general logistics experience would be highly desirable, though it is not essential & this role will offer full training to the successful candidate
Your role will involve:
- Scheduling the weekly workload for routine/non-routine sludge haulage operations
- Liaising with drivers and contractors, maintaining driver availability information & ensuring daily sickness is recorded
- Instructing drivers & ensuring they follow all procedures & legislation particularly operators licenses with respect to planning, scheduling & control, fleet, record keeping
- Ensuring the laws relating to the driving & operation of vehicles used under this license are observed
- Making sure vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept in a fit and serviceable condition as well as recording unplanned vehicle downtime
- Ensure load data information is input into the database accurately in a timely manner
