Overview
Circa £55,000 + 15% shift allowance depending on skills and experience, and car allowance. Permanent (with flexibility for part-time working). Full time - 37 hours a week. Location: covering areas including Great Billing, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Corby, Newmarket, Wellingborough and surrounding areas. Role
Operational Manager for Night Driving Operations in the South West of the area. You will be responsible for orchestrating the efficient and safe transportation of sludge from wastewater treatment plants to designated disposal, recycling, or treatment facilities. This role requires meticulous planning, strong logistical acumen, and a keen focus on regulatory compliance to ensure the seamless execution of operations.
What does it take to be a WR Operations Manager?
- Significant experience in UK road transport operations
- Experience of tanker operations, with experience of sewage sludge and/or biosolids collection and haulage operations is an advantage
- Experience in vehicle performance analysis including the compilation of performance reports for senior management
- Proficient IT skills – MS Word and MS Excel
- Proven leadership ability with the capacity to challenge and improve performance results
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and actively pursue creative solutions
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH / NEBOSH)
- Full manual driving license is essential
Key duties
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership and foster open two-way communication, tracking observations and actions through the active management app
- Coordinate with the WR Planning Manager on weekly vehicle/driver/operator performance monitoring
- Ensure compliance with Operator’s Licence training, development and performance management for the operational team
- Manage operations to be effective, efficient and safe, providing a service to customers in line with drinking water and environmental protection standards
- Educate teams on how activities impact compliance (e.g., pollution, water quality) and drive compliance across process areas
- Collaborate across the business unit and wider organisation to help achieve goals and priorities
