The predicted salary is between 60000 - 60000 € per year.

Salary & Compensation: Circa £60,000 depending on skills and experience per annum + Car Allowance. Full time / 37 hrs a week / permanent.

Location: Peterborough / Cambridge / Norfolk / Lincoln / Northampton / Huntingdon - Based location - one of our sites across the Anglian Water Region. Anglian Water embraces a flexible working approach. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working, with an average of 3 days per week being onsite across the Anglian Water region.

Due to the growth of our Safety Team, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join us and contribute to our mission of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. As a Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of the Safety Advisors and accountable for all aspects of people leadership, development, and performance management within your team. You will provide assurance on the quality of incident investigations, identify trends in incident data, and make recommendations to improve safety performance. What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Capital Delivery teams to ensure all construction activities, including civil engineering works, are planned and delivered safely and in compliance with statutory and organisational health and safety requirements.
  • Provide proactive health and safety leadership across Delivery Route construction teams.
  • Influence and challenge Delivery Route leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through visible presence, coaching, and engagement.
  • Partner with Delivery Route leadership to ensure works are planned and delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with CDM and company standards.
  • Identify, assess, and influence control of health and safety risks associated with complex and high‑risk construction activities.
  • Deliver assurance through inspections, audits, and performance reviews, driving continuous improvement in safety outcomes.
  • Lead on incident investigation, learning, and behavioural initiatives to embed a strong and positive safety culture.
  • Line management responsibility, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and ensuring effective people management processes are in place.
  • Identify trends in safety performance and near-miss data.
  • Review business unit performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Support operational standdowns and training of front‑line managers.
  • Implement immediate mitigation controls in the event of serious incidents.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Ideally NeBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Member of IOSH (Tech IOSH/MIOSH or Grad IOSH).
  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and management.
  • Proven experience enforcing and improving safety standards within a construction environment.
  • Strong practical understanding of CDM Regulations, with the ability to drive compliance and improve safety outcomes.
  • Flexible in responding to customer needs and changing workload demands.
  • Ability to have challenging conversations and maintain positive stakeholder relationships under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.
