Salary: From £30,500 depending on skills and experience + 20% shift allowance

Location: Wing Water Treatment Works, Rutland.

Shift Pattern: Permanent, 24/7 shifts: 6 am‑2 pm, 2 pm‑10 pm, 10 pm‑6 am; 1 in 6 rotation.

About the Role

The role is part of a Water Supply Team, operating one of Anglian Water’s largest water treatment works. You will monitor and adjust treatment processes, ensure high‑quality drinking water production, and conduct on‑site testing and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monitoring & control using SCADA; monitor water flow, pressure, and tank levels in real‑time.
  • Water quality testing: collect and analyse samples for pH, metals, bacteria, and other contaminants to meet strict drinking water standards.
  • Network and demand management: monitor demand patterns to match production output.
  • Chemical management: calculate and adjust dosing of chemicals such as chlorine; manage hazardous material storage and delivery.
  • Equipment maintenance: perform routine inspections and first‑line maintenance on pumps, filters, and valves.
  • Pumping and inflow management: coordinate abstraction from nearby rivers to maintain reservoir levels.
  • Incident response: respond to alarms or pollution incidents to prevent contaminated water from entering the plant.

Qualifications

Essential: ability to learn quickly, initiative, and strong problem‑solving skills. Training will be provided by an experienced Technician.

Availability: flexible shift work 24/7; cross‑cover required.
