Are you ready to take on a high-profile, business-critical leadership role that ensures the security of water resources for millions of customers? Join our Water Resources and Drought team, where we safeguard upstream water supply—split approximately 50:50 between groundwater and surface water sources. As Hydrology Manager, you will provide expert technical hydrological advice and lead a team of specialists to maintain water resource security in terms of both quantity and quality. This is a unique opportunity to combine scientific expertise with strategic leadership and tactical management of operational risk areas in a role that influences key business decisions.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead Hydrological Strategy: Drive water resources and drought strategies, ensuring risks are identified, managed, and mitigated across the Anglian Region. Lead on the creation of the hydrological input for components of the statutory Drought Plan.
- Drought Response Leadership: Act as a key hydrological point of contact for drought management, leading tactical and strategic workstreams, and ensuring compliance with our Drought Plan.
- Technical Expertise: Oversee hydrological analysis, reporting, modelling, and data management to support business priorities and innovative solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships internally and externally, including with regulators such as the Environment Agency.
- Project Delivery: Manage critical projects from drought permit preparation to data visualisation, translating complex technical information into actionable insights.
About you
- Proven experience in hydrology or water resources management, with strong analytical and scientific skills.
- Exceptional leadership ability to inspire and motivate technical teams.
- Skilled in strategic planning, risk management, and delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure.
- Excellent communicator, able to simplify complex data for diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence is required.
