Circa £75k, salary dependent on skills and experience. Permanent full-time, with flexibility for part-time hybrid role, working from Huntingdon or Lincoln. Lead the Digital Infrastructure That Keeps Anglian Water Moving. We’ve brought together our Platform, Infrastructure, Network and Site Reliability Engineering teams under a single leadership role. That gives the role real scope, to shape how the teams work together, improving reliability, developing technical capability and setting a clear direction for the platforms our business depends on.
As Senior Engineering Manager, Platforms and Infrastructure, you’ll lead the teams responsible for secure, resilient and high-performing services, while building a culture focused on ownership, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead platform strategy and delivery - defining and managing the hybrid infrastructure roadmap, balancing in-house and managed service capabilities, and embedding automation-first, resilient design from the start.
- Build relationships - developing outcome focused relationships with Architecture, Security and Product teams and our strategic technology partners.
- Ensure operational reliability and service-aware operations - overseeing Site Reliability Engineering, uptime, performance, and proactive observability to reduce operational risk and toil, and enable self-healing platforms.
- Develop people - leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams, while building capability across the function.
- Champion continuous improvement and transformation - driving DevOps, automation, and modern Cloud engineering practices, identifying opportunities to reduce cost and complexity, and fostering a culture of learning, experimentation, and safe challenge for all.

What does it take to be the Senior Engineering Manager, Platforms and Infrastructure?
You’ll be an experienced engineering leader who enjoys developing people, solving complex challenges and creating the environment where your teams can thrive. You’ll be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery and influencing across technical and business-focused teams.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience leading platform, infrastructure or cloud engineering teams
- Experience of managing engineering managers
- Strong understanding of hybrid infrastructure, cloud technologies and modern engineering practices
- Experience improving operational resilience and service reliability
- Knowledge of DevOps, SRE and IaC principles
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Azure, AWS, ITIL, SRE) (desirable)
- Degree in a technology or computing discipline (desirable)
