Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager – Drive a Greener Future with the @One Alliance
Location: Peterborough / Hybrid

Who are we?

The East of England is home to some of the UK's most unique rivers, wetlands and coastlines, yet it is also one of the most water-stressed regions in the country. Population growth, climate change and increasing demand mean that resilient infrastructure has never been more important.

The @one Alliance is 7 different organisation working in partnership with Anglian Water. Together we're delivering one of the UK's largest and most exciting capital investment programmes. We're helping secure the region's future water supplies while protecting and enhancing the environment for generations to come.

We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Manager who is passionate about creating safe, healthy and inclusive workplaces and who thrives in a collaborative delivery environment.

Why join us?

As HSW Manager, you'll be a visible leader across our projects, helping shape a culture where everyone takes ownership of health, safety, wellbeing and environmental performance. You'll work alongside delivery teams from design through to construction and commissioning, ensuring our Safer Every Day culture is embedded across everything we do.

Working closely with the Head of SHE, Delivery Directors and senior leaders across the Alliance, you'll influence decision making, coach teams, support innovation and ensure our ambitious programme is delivered safely, sustainably and responsibly.

What you’ll be doing:

🟢 Lead the implementation of our Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing (SHEW) strategy across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

🟢 Provide expert advice and coaching to project teams, managers and senior leaders on all aspects of health, safety, wellbeing and environmental management.

🟢 Spend time on site building relationships, engaging with teams and leading by example to promote positive safety behaviours.

🟢 Support projects throughout design, construction and commissioning, ensuring risks are identified early and managed effectively.

🟢 Plan and coordinate HSW resources across the programme, ensuring projects receive the right level of support at every stage.

🟢 Deliver site inspections, audits, assurance activities and performance reviews, identifying opportunities for continual improvement.

🟢 Champion mental health, wellbeing and behavioural safety initiatives, helping create a culture where people feel supported to speak up.

🟢 Build collaborative relationships with Alliance partners, subcontractors and suppliers to drive consistent standards and share best practice.

🟢 Support the adoption of digital tools and data-driven insights to improve health, safety and environmental performance.

🟢 Promote innovation, continuous learning and inclusive ways of working across the Alliance.

What you’ll bring:

✅ Previous Health & Safety experience within construction, utilities or major infrastructure programmes.

✅ NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

✅ TechIOSH membership or above (working towards Chartered membership is desirable).

✅ Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice.

✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders and operational teams alike.

✅ Experience undertaking audits, inspections, investigations and coaching teams to improve performance.

✅ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.

✅ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
