At Anglian Water, we’re not just delivering water services — we’re delivering environmental and social prosperity. With a bold £11bn investment planned for AMP8, we’re embarking on the largest capital delivery programme in our history. To help us achieve this, we’re looking for a dynamic and visionary Senior Stakeholder Engagement Lead to join our Corporate Affairs team and lead the charge in building meaningful, strategic relationships that unlock progress and leave a lasting legacy. This newly created senior position is pivotal to the success of our capital delivery ambitions.

  • Ensure all engagement plans are aligned with regulatory timelines and delivery milestones, enabling smooth mobilisation of capital projects.
  • Identify and engage key decision-makers, influencers, and statutory consultees to streamline planning and permitting processes.
  • Create a unified, enterprise-wide view of engagement activities across all capital delivery programmes, ensuring consistency and transparency.
  • Establish a cross-functional engagement community within Anglian Water to align messaging and outreach across all delivery programmes.
  • Build partnerships with other major infrastructure projects to share best practices and enhance engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with programme leads and enabling managers to support project delivery and ensure engagement activities are fully integrated into project plans.
  • Develop and implement structured engagement frameworks for local authorities and parish councils, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Enhanced Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs).

What does it take to be successful?

  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, or communications within infrastructure, utilities, or government sectors.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering complex engagement plans across multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding of planning processes, statutory consultation, and community engagement.
  • A collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
  • Degree in Communications, Political Science, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Skilled in managing outreach plans, crisis communication, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:
