Anglian Water is seeking a Cloud Platform Architect to join our growing Digital, Data and Technology team. In this pivotal role, you\’ll lead the design and governance of adaptable cloud platforms, translating Anglian Water’s evolving requirements into technology roadmaps and solutions that are secure, scalable, reliable, and enable the long-term delivery of our legal, regulatory obligations, and business outcomes.
You’ll orchestrate high-level designs, influence technical direction, and ensure platforms remain fit for purpose in response to evolving business needs, emerging technologies, vendor roadmaps, and market trends. You\’ll also help shape the guardrails & governance framework within the Architecture Practice.
This role requires strong leadership, the ability to influence technical direction, manage supplier relationships, and approach challenges with empathy to uphold Anglian Water’s principles: building trust, doing the right thing, and exploring new possibilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle management of cloud infrastructure and services across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Design, evolve, and optimise our Cloud strategy and technology roadmaps aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Architecture, Cyber Security, DevOps, Operations) to deliver resilient, scalable cloud solutions.
- Drive DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption, enabling automation, CI/CD, and cloud-native architecture.
- Assess and pilot emerging technologies and vendor products to ensure innovation and continuous improvement.
- Define and contribute to strategic investment planning and platform governance in collaboration with enterprise stakeholders.
What does it take to be a Platform Architect at Anglian Water?
We’re looking for someone with deep cloud expertise and strong leadership capabilities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or equivalent (e.g., AZ-305).
- Experience in Azure infrastructure, networking, and security.
- Hands-on experience designing and leading change in complex cloud environments.
- Understanding of ITIL and Agile frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor engagement experience.
- Equivalent certifications in AWS and/or Google Cloud (Desirable).
- Azure AI Fundamentals or related cloud-based emerging tech credentials (Desirable).
- Strong understanding of multi-cloud infrastructure and operations.
- Cloud security, governance, and platform lifecycle management.
- Proven experience working across cross-functional agile teams.
- Experience managing cloud investments and capital maintenance portfolios.
