Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Crossings & Utilities Manager to support and enhance our project team.

What will you be doing as our new Crossings & Utilities Manager? Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be critical to the successful delivery of the Strategic Pipeline Alliance, responsible for the strategic management of crossings programme across IC2 schemes. You will be a key member of the team involved in the management and co-ordination of design, contracts and specialist subcontractors to deliver the programme, including estimates, quality checks and third-party approvals.

Key responsibilities:

• Management of the crossings programme across IC2 schemes, including on-site operations for Tunnelling, HDD, pipe jacking, and open-cut works.
• Oversee Tunnelling, HDD & Pipe-jacking activities, ensuring alignment and quality.
• Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Develop crossing strategies and select appropriate methods.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Coordinate with design teams to ensure feasibility and compliance with standards.
• Ensuring all quality standards are met in development of and the construction of the crossing design.
• Lead the implementation of a production management approach to delivery, driving high levels of performance and delivery to programme requirements.
• Management of ECI process.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours:

• A formal Civil Engineering qualification (Civil / Construction or Geotechnical)
• A strong knowledge of trenchless technology and civil engineering principles.
• Competence in interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Flexibility and communication skills essential to working within a fast-paced and innovative team
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSHH qualification is desirable.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

The Strategic Pipeline Alliance is creating nearly 500 kilometres of new, interconnecting pipelines to help combat the impact of climate change and keep fresh, clean water flowing across the Anglian Water region. Our aim is to make the region, one of the most rapidly growing in the country, resilient to the risks of drought by securing water supplies for future generations.

The new network of pipelines will be longer than HS2, making it one of the largest infrastructure projects for a generation. It is a complex and challenging major infrastructure project. We selected partners that bring a wealth of experience, new mindsets, thinking and innovation for what is an incredibly exciting programme. They are: Costain, Farrans, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald Bentley. Due to the nature of the alliance, and based on the role offered, you will be employed by one of the five partners, joining teams containing some of the most talented and innovative contractors in the region at a crucial time.

This programme forms a key part of our Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP), which sets out how we will manage the water supplies in our region to meet current and future needs over 25 years. It is a critical, long-term project and construction is due to begin in the summer of 2021 and will take nearly five years to build.
