What Will You Be Doing as a Service Improvement Technician?

As a Service Improvement Technician within the Water Network Operations team, you will play a key supporting role in driving continuous improvement, operational reporting, and process excellence across our water network services. Working closely with Service Improvement Analysts and operational teams, you will provide administrative, analytical, and project support to help deliver improvement initiatives efficiently. You'll support the collection and analysis of operational data, maintain reporting tools and documentation, coordinate stakeholder activities, and assist with developing digital solutions that improve the way we work. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of operational reports, dashboards, and KPI performance summaries using Excel and Power BI
  • Collect, validate, and maintain data from multiple operational systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Assist with quality checking data and preparing information for senior leadership and operational review meetings
  • Support Service Improvement Analysts with business improvement projects and initiatives
  • Document current and future-state processes to support operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Maintain project documentation, action logs, trackers, and meeting records
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, presentations, and stakeholder communications
  • Build positive relationships with operational managers, field teams, and support functions across the business
  • Support the development and maintenance of Power Platform solutions, including SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Forms, and Power Automate workflows
  • Assist users with reporting tools and digital processes while identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to reporting systems, digital tools, and operational processes
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of service improvement activities across Water Network Operations teams

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Experience supporting reporting, administration, or operational processes
  • Experience coordinating projects, actions, or improvement activities
  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and data visualisation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, would be beneficial
  • Experience working within utilities, operations, engineering, or a similarly fast-paced environment is desirable
  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent qualification
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Naturally curious with a desire to improve processes and ways of working
  • Enjoy working as part of a supportive team while maintaining accountability for your own work
  • Adaptable and comfortable working across multiple priorities in an operational environment
