Location: Lincolnshire – 22.2 hours per week (3 days: Monday, Friday, and one flexible day).
Salary: Circa £25,635 depending on skills and experience, plus car allowance.
Permanent part‑time role reporting directly to the Process Science Manager. The role focuses on delivering wastewater process science support and advising Water Recycling Services on maintaining compliance and ensuring treatment efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Scientifically lead the prevention and resolution of incidents and non‑conformance affecting processes and network infrastructure.
- Design and implement strategies to correct adverse performance trends to maintain compliance.
- Measure process performance, interpret data, and provide regular reports on compliance and performance.
- Provide process advice and support to proactively reduce energy and chemical usage.
- Design and implement strategies to fully exploit the potential of the infrastructure and reduce OPEX.
- Develop and implement risk assessments and action plans.
- Support Operational Managers in handling customer complaints and enquiries.
- Develop and implement sampling programmes.
- Lead scientific and regulatory liaison with the local Environment Agency.
- Provide rotational scientific standby.
Qualifications and Experience
- Background in wastewater management or a degree level in a relevant scientific subject.
- Strong IT skillset, specifically around data manipulation and data interpretation.
- Demonstrable expertise in wastewater collection and treatment and, advantageously, sludge treatment.
- Experience or willingness to work in a hybrid setting (onsite, office and from home).
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to influence others.
- Proven problem‑solving capability.
- Stakeholder management experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with teams.
- Analytical mindset.
- Full driving licence essential.
- Residence within the Lincolnshire area required.
- Flexible approach to work; small amount of standby required.
