Hydrology Manager – Water Services
12‑month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Circa £55,000, depending on skills and experience
Location: Cambridge (hybrid working)

Join our Water Resources and Drought team, where we protect upstream water supplies for millions of customers across the Anglian region. With a 50:50 split between groundwater and surface water, this role sits right at the intersection of science, strategy and operational decision-making.
The role
- Lead hydrological strategy across water resources and drought planning, including hydrological inputs to statutory Drought Plans
- Play a key leadership role in drought response, acting as a principal hydrological contact and leading tactical and strategic workstreams
- Oversee hydrological analysis, modelling and reporting, ensuring data drives innovative, practical solutions
- Manage complex, high-impact projects, from drought permit preparation to data visualisation and insight
- Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including the Environment Agency and internal decision-makers
- Translate complex science into clear, actionable insight that supports confident business decisions
About you
- You’ll bring a strong blend of technical credibility and leadership capability, with the confidence to operate in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment.
- Proven experience in hydrology or water resources management
- Strong analytical and scientific expertise, with a strategic mindset
- Inspirational leader, able to motivate and develop specialist teams

- Full UK driving licence required
You’ll be based in the office 1–2 days per week, with the flexibility to work from home or in another of our offices for the remainder of the time. Travel to other offices or sites will be required occasionally to support business needs.
